App Review: Aweditorium

Aweditorium is an app for the music lovers out there. Specifically, those who love indie music – or those who want to love indie music. It’s a great tool to find new artists or just a fun way to enjoy the music you already know.

When you open up the app, you’re presented with pictures. Lots and lots of pictures, side by side. You navigate through them by swiping, and when you see a picture that looks interesting? Tap it, and that artist’s music starts to play. You can listen to a whole song for free, no 30 second previews here! While you’re listening to your music and looking at the gorgeous artwork that has now expanded to take up the whole screen, interesting facts pop up about the band pop up in little multicolored boxes. Got tired of a song? Swipe left or right, up or down to switch to a completely different artist or album. If you want to go back to the overview with all the pictures, all you have to do is pinch the screen like you’re zooming out. There’s also a small map in the top left corner of all the pictures, that lights up certain areas to help you keep track of what you’ve already listened too.

This app is a great way to find some new music or artists – don’t expected it to ever play you any Top 40, and don’t be surprised if you haven’t heard a single song in the app! However, it’s nice to take a look at, and best of all, it’s free! iPad users can downloaded it for free in the app store right now. Happy listening!

Note: This app does not play nicely with iOS 5
