Is it possible that Apple really will delay the iPhone 5 all the way to September? When I heard the first speculation about it, I thought “No way in Hell. Way too much competition from Android.” But when I sat down and thought about it just today, I realized it really wasn’t as far-fetched as it seems. I recently wrote an article on why Apple doesn’t mind losing the lead to Android – and I feel this applies here, too. If you realize that Apple doesn’t really mind being in second place, it becomes apparent that they very well might delay the iPhone until late summer, or even September. Apple has always been the high quality consumer electronics company – and if they feel delaying the iPhone for a few months would result in a higher quality phone and a better end-user experience, I believe they would certainly do that. Even if they released an iPhone 5 with a four inch screen, NFC, a duel-core processor, and a 3D camera tomorrow, chances are they’re not going to pass up Android – the empire is just too powerful. So why should they push out a lower-quality phone when delaying would produce a higher quality device, which is really their goal anyway. So, with those things considered, I must sadly admit that Apple very well may delay the iPhone 5if they see fit. I’m sure there are plenty of people who still don’t believe it, and I wish I didn’t either – I’m going to hate waiting two or more months to get my hands on the newest device, as I’m sure the rest of the tech industry will too.
