Camera Upgrades for the iPhone 5? Not Exactly

We’ve heard some people speculating about an upgrade to the camera in the next iteration of iPhone, maybe all the way up to 8 megapixels. While this is probably just wishful thinking, there is an upgrade to the camera likely on the way – to the flash more specifically.

Pictures of alleged cases for the iPhone 5 have recently appeared on a trading site called Alibaba. These cases show that instead of the flash right next to the camera on the right side, it has disappeared and shown up opposite the camera on the left side instead. Why would Apple do this, you might ask?

You may not have heard of it, but a significant number of people were complaining that the flash being so close to the camera that it caused some interference. Apple wouldn’t want to leave us with washed out pictures, so now we have it – the fix! No more complaints about the flash being to close to the camera.

Alibaba has had a good track record for predicting about future devices by using case designs. They were one of the first to bring to light the new form factor and speaker location for the iPad 2. If they claim the flash has moved, it seems a fairly good guess to say that it has. However, this is still just speculation based on a case design, and should be taken with skepticism. How do you guys feel about the relocated flash? Like or dislike? Replies in the comments!
