iPad 2 HD Coming in October

People have been asking for Apple to release an iPad with a retina display for about a year now. While some people expected the next iPad to include a retina display, Apple did not introduce one with it. However Apple did call it the year of the iPad, and at their next music event, Apple may be continuing the trend for the year of the iPad. This Is My Next is hearing that next iPad will not be the iPad 3, but the iPad 2 HD, which would sport a doubled resolution display.

As hard as it might be to believe, the new tablet is said to sport a double resolution screen (2048 x 1536), and will be dubbed the “iPad HD.” The idea behind the product is apparently that it will be a “pro” device aimed at a higher end market — folks who work in video and photo production possibly — and will be introduced alongside something like an iPad version of Final Cut or Aperture. This product is specifically said to not be the iPad 3, rather a complimentary piece of the iPad 2 line. Think MacBook and MacBook Pro.

This continues the trend that 2011 would be the year of the iPad. What do you guys expect to see from the next iPad.

  1. I just ordered an iPad 2 and I’m not concerned if Apple comes out with a new one and it would be very unlikely for them to come out with one in less than a year. People will be just as mad as they were when they sliced the price of the iPhone , in less than a year since it’s introduction.

I’ve been waiting for an iPad with higher screen resolution to become reality. I’m just starting back to school for another degree in business, and I’d love to take an iPad with me instead of my 13″ MacBook Pro. But what stopped me from buying an iPad 2 is the resolution. Since I’ve had my iPhone 4, the sharpness of the icons and text is unbelievably sharp. I’ve gone to play with a demo iPad at the Apple store 3 times, and I notice the difference in the resolution every time and its kept me from pulling the trigger. I understand that the iPad 2 resolution is comparable to my MacBook Pro, but perhaps I notice it more because I was holding the iPad closer to my face then of course I do or would my laptop. So…does anyone who uses an iPhone 4 have an issue with their resolution on their iPad 2 when it comes to the fonts and reading texts? Does anyone use e-textbooks on their iPad in place of buying textbooks and if so, are there problems finding most of your books in a iPad friendly format? I’d really love to get the iPad 2 in a few weeks when the fall semester starts…but then again if these rumors are true, it may be worth not buying texts or anything until October if possible.
