The iPhone 3GS May Not Receive iOS 5
As most of us are hyped for WWDC because of the release of iOS 5, another Apple iDevice will be “exiled” from the future software updates along with the iPhone 3G, and iPod touch 2nd generation, and 3rd generation. This is a rumor, but does seem very likely.
When Apple released iOS 4.0, it was supported by 3G, 3GS, and 4. But, now it seems more likely that Apple will only release software updates for the current generation iPhone, and the previous generation. If Apple keeps the way they were doing things, then the iPhone 3GS would get iOS 5, but that is unlikely. Apple probably does not want a repeat from the iOS 4 on the iPhone 3G dilemma. The next thing you know, it’s gonna be happening with the iPhone 3GS and iOS 5.
Eldar Murtazin, the editor-in-chief of Mobile Review confirmed this by saying, “Just one comment. Apple iPhone 3Gs wont be upgradable to iOS 5.x. iPhone 4 will.”
Obviously this is JUST a rumor, but many sites say that Eldar has a good reputation in terms of reporting mobile phone, and Apple rumors. So it could go either way.
I personally think that the iPhone 3GS will not get iOS 5. The iPhone 3G was already a huge problem with iOS 4, and plus the fact that the iPhone 3GS does not include the A4 processor. Also, it ticked a lot of people of that 3G users were give “limited” features. Baasically when they say limited, you don’t get the features that everybody wants. However, the iPhone 3GS does have a good processor that is actually about up to par with the A4 processor, so I wouldn’t be surprised if the iPhone 3GS was included in the device list for iOS 5.

Do you think the iPhone 3GS will get iOS 5?
Well, it’s hard to know since I have no idea of what apple is doing regarding iOS 5. There is even no rumor regarding new features and etc.
I really think Apple will do big changes in iOS 5 and OSX Lion. They needs this because of Android and Windows Phone.
If there isn’t too much features in iOS 5, obviously Apple will release it to iPhone 3GS. But if the new version is full of new features, customizable screens (sic), then maybe only iPhone 4 will support it.

Yeah, I completely agree with you. I think one of the features that they’ll include in iOS 5 is the circular menus. They also might change the look of Cover Flow, and a completely different multitasking.

I Phone 3G is one of the most popular technologies in the history of mobile phone, and unless you lived under a rock you probably heard of.
