iPhone 5 Rendering

You must’ve known that this was coming. With the iPhone 5 case leaks coming last week, it was just time to see what graphic artists would come up with based on the case dimensions, ports and holes on the cases. MacRumors commissioned Ciccarese Designs to come up with a concept of what the next iPhone could possibly look like based on the dimensions of the cases.

This concept gets rid of the glass back. I personally like the glass back on the iPhone 4, but this one goes back to the aluminum that was there with the original iPhone. In addition, the back is more iPad 2 esque, with a flat back with curves around the edges of the phone.

The designs show manufacturers what areas need to be open or exposed for cases, but reveal little else. In the past, this has caused some misunderstandings about future features. iPad 2 cases seemed to suggest an extra port at the top of the device, but that turned out to be a space for a microphone hole. Similarly, there are a few areas on the iPhone 5 case designs that are open to interpretation.

MacRumors also mentions that it is tough to do a render of an iPhone based off of a couple of case leaks. It is hard to tell what will be on the front side of the phone. Will it be a capacitive home button? How big is the screen going to be? These are some of the main questions about the next iPhone so we will have to wait and see what Apple has in store for us when they announce the next iteration of the iPhone.
