Jailbreak Comex Hired At Apple

It’s hard to move on from news like the kind that hit us yesterday, hard to go back to the normal news and rumors just like nothing happened – but even without Steve in command, the tech industry chugs on. Many of you have heard of a rather famous member of the iPhone Dev Team, Comex – or his real name, Nicholas Allegra. He’s the man responsible for JailbreakMe 2.0 and 3.0 – the hack that allows you to jailbreak your iDevice simply by visiting jailbreakme.com.

But now, the jailbreaking road has ended for Comex – today he announced via Twitter that he was quitting the jailbreak game to go work at Apple – as it turns out, he’s been hired as an intern. Interestingly, they did the same thing in January with the developer of another application called MobileNotifier – his name was Peter Hajas. The Notification Center that came out of iOS 5? That looked suspiciously like his work.

But what use does Apple have for a hacker like Comex’s talents? Perhaps just someone to spot and patch security holes to stop other jailbreakers from getting in. However, something tells me that we’re going to see some  pretty interesting things coming from someone with such talent.
