What is Jailbreaking?

Jailbreaking is a process that allows you use iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad files that Apple wouldn’t normally let you use, this making it possible to download and install many things that Apple would never provide for you. Jailbreaking adds an unofficial app called Cydia to your iPhone. From there you can download thousands of different 3rd party apps that are not available int the Apple App Store.

How to use cydia?

  • Is Jailbreaking legal? Yes.
  • Is Jailbreaking safe? Yes.
  • Is Jailbreaking free? Yes.

There are not very many risks that come with jailbreaking your iDevice, because you can always restore it through iTunes. (note: restore if you bring your device into Apple for repairs)

Jailbreaking is not the same as unlocking. Unlocking is a process you can do through some jailbroken iPhones, that will allow you to use your iPhone on an on an unofficial carrier.
