How to Use a Jailbroken iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad.. What is Cydia?
After the release of limera1n and greenpois0n, the two jailbreaks for iOS 4.1, a realization came to me… a lot of people had never previously jailbroken their devices before, and don’t know what jailbreaking does. I have been recieving a ton of different e-mail asking about what does jailbreaking do, and specifically how to use Cydia (The jailbroken app store.)
Jailbreaking is a process that allows you use iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad files that Apple wouldn’t normally let you use, this making it possible to download and install many things that Apple would never provide for you. Jailbreaking adds an unofficial app called Cydia to your iPhone. From there you can download thousands of different 3rd party apps that are not available int the Apple App Store.
I made a couple instructional videos on how to jailbreak your iDevice that you can find on our jailbreak page if you haven’t jailbroken your iDevice already. If you have and are wondering how to use Cydia, watch the walk-through video below
