Leaked Apple Patent Reveals iPhone 5 Design
The feud between Samsung and Apple has been going on for a very long time. Apple has blocked the Samsung Galazy Tab from being released in Australia because they were copying their “look and feel of the iPad.” This war continues to grow between the two companies.
Channel News has reported that Apple has filed a patent that reveals the design of the next iteration of the iPhone. This came across the company’s IP system and has revealed the design of the next generation iPhone that is supposedly to be released in September or October.
“The handheld electronic device includes at least a single seamless housing having a front opening and a cover disposed within the front opening and attached to the seamless housing without a bezel. The invention relates to a seamless housing formed of a single sheet of metal.”
There have been many rumors about the next iPhone having an aluminum backing, ridding of the glass back the current iPhone 4 has. There is also mention on the text that the next iPhone will be much thinner and much lighter.
From iDB:
While Apple Inc. is indeed listed as the applicant on the patent, the inventions mentioned within it are hard to decipher. There are mentions of cellular technology in the documents, but the accompanying graphics seem to depict an iPod touch-like device with a headset jack on the bottom.
We just got ahold of the patent application last night, so give us the weekend to look it over in-depth. If you want to check out the filing for yourself, you can read through the application in its entirety here.
