New Router Makes iPhone WiFi hotspot; No Jailbreak Required

I stumbled across this article on Gizmodo, and followed up @ IDB, and I thought it would be something interesting to share with everyone. Prior to now the only way to share your connection with other devices from your iPhone was to jailbreak and use MyWi

When I saw it, I first thought, “Wow, it’s about time.” Basically to use the Nexaira Business Class II 3G/4G Wireless Broadband Router, simply plug your iPhone into the router and bam, you can create a secure WiFi hotspot to share with all the devices around you for up to 200 feet, instantly. This new router sounds great, but here is where the good news ends.

In order to use the router, you will have to subscribe to AT&T’s tethering plan @ $20/month.

Personally, I think using MyWi is the better way to go, partially because there is less bulk, and the whole idea behind jailbreaking is the freedom to break the restraints Apple imposes, but, if you are running, say, a business and don’t want to deal with jailbreaking, it would be a cheaper alternative to the MiFi plan @ $60/month.

The Nexaira Business Class II 3G/4G Wireless Broadband Router runs about $200, so I think it would be an excellent investment, for me, I’ll stick with MyWi. What do you guys think? This is sort of, AT&T Vs. Cydia debate, which side are you on? Let us know with a comment.
