I don’t know about you all, but the one thing that drives me absolutely mad about my iPad, iPod touch or iPhone is the fact that the app store closes after each app I download.

If you are jailbroken, you now have a choice! There is a new tweak in Cydia called StayOpened that keeps the app store open after you hit that download button. No longer will thoughts enter your head of smashing your iPad over your head repeatedly until something breaks…maybe thats just me…

This app does exactly as promised, you can surf the app store, download and continue to surf, while your app downloads. Pretty sweet huh? The only problem I have seen so far is a small glitch with the download button. Now after excitedly hitting the free/purchase button, it is just a green rectangle, absent the word “install” on some devices, I do not have this problem on my iPad, however, as yo can see, there is no download button at all on my iPod touch, it just goes away! Not a big deal, right? I’m sure this is something that will be fixed with the first update on the tweak.

This app is by Cupertino and is free for download on Cydia, and it works seamlessly, just as Apple had implemented it themselves (besides the missing word). Now whenever you download an app, it downloads quietly in the background of your iPhone, as it should.

NOTE: I am uncertan, as to whether or not this tweak works with older firmwares (iOS 3.1.3 or older) because these firmwares did not support backgrounding. If your devices runs iOs 3.1.3 or older, and this tweak works for you, let me know, and I will update this article!
